How to buy ARRR (PirateChain)

A lot of people have been asking how to buy ARRR or anonymous crypto in general, so I asked a friend of mine to help me come up with a basic how-to guide for buying ARRR. This is meant to help an absolute beginner purchase ARRR. I am only going to focus on a few coins, privacy coins in particular, and one way to buy it in order to simplify the process. There are further security considerations that you can explore once you’re in the world of crypto. This is not financial advice and I am not responsible for how you use this information. This is intended for educational purposes only. Always do your own research.

Quick Reference of Crypto Terms:

Wallet– Software that allows you to receive, store and send a cryptocurrency
Exchange– A website where cryptocurrencies can be exchanged for one another.
KYC– Know Your Customer is when a site asks for identity verifying credentials.
AML– Anti money laundering (basically same as KYC)
VPN– Virtual Private Network is a program that encrypts info sent from your computer and can be used to appear to be in a different location.
Fiat– Government issued currency ex. Dollar
BTC– Bitcoin Non-private popular digital currency
XMR– Monero The OG privacy coin
ARRR– Piratechain A newer, favored privacy coin

Why Privacy Coins?

With currency going digital verses physical, we face a future where everything we do would be logged and no replacement would exist for cash-in-hand in our society. Fortunately, with the constant advancement of blockchain technology, developers have made a few coins that allow people to send currency privately and anonymously. By supporting coins that were developed with privacy (and therefore security) in mind, you support the basic right to conduct commerce in a truly free market. As more people become educated on how blockchain and BTC work, they will find that it is not as private as it leads some people to believe. This creates an opportunity for coins like ARRR and XMR to fill the void for surveillance free transactions. Their rising prices suggest buyers are becoming more educated and choosing a Decentralized Free Market Future versus a Central Surveillance System. They have also solved the problems that cause BTC to have high transaction fees, making them more viable for everyday purchasing.

A lot of crypto experts are saying they believe that ARRR is the most secure coin followed closely by Monero. BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, DOGE and other popular coins have transparency instead of privacy as the default. ARRR is not currently sold by any exchanges that trade from fiat, so there are a few steps to get from dollars to your own privately held ARRR.

Steps for One Way to Purchase ARRR

  1. Get on a VPN.
  2. Create Wallets.
  3. Use Fiat (Dollars) to acquire XMR.
  4. Transfer XMR to your wallet.
(If you are just trying to purchase XMR, you’re done)
  5. Transfer XMR to TradeOgre.com account
  6. Convert XMR to BTC.
  7. Buy ARRR with BTC.
  8. Transfer ARRR to wallet.
  9. Hoard your Booty.

1. Get on a VPN

Crypto and tech security is basically a rabbit hole where as you learn more you will become more cautious and add more security based on research. To start, you can use something like NordVPN. Once you can transact with crypto, you will be able to purchase a VPN with crypto, so that even the VPN creators don’t have any of your information. Even the most basic VPN blocks a lot of entities from gathering information about you. (Great for all web browsing) Mullvad is my friends recommendation for increased security.

2. Create Wallets.

You can look for your own options for wallets, but for the sake of simplicity, CakeWallet App for Monero (Don’t use for BTC) and PirateWallet Light App for ARRR are two good quick options. Note: If this is your first time setting up a wallet, pay EXTREMELY close attention to the recovery and backup portion of setting up the wallet. If you misplace or write it down wrong, you will not be able to recover that wallet (or the funds in it!)

You will need to use those to set up a wallet for XRM and one for ARRR. Each type of coin uses it’s own wallet.

3. Use Fiat (Dollars) to acquire XMR.

Option 1- Bank Transfer, Has KYC– You will need to make an account on an exchange that accepts bank transfers in your country and sells XMR. Kraken.com is an exchange in the US that sells XMR. There is no way to avoid KYC with this option. Legally exchanges that deal with fiat will always require KYC.
Once you’ve done your bank transfer, you will be able to buy XMR. Purchase the amount you’re looking to invest.

Option 2- Crypto ATM, Non KYC Find a crypto ATM at https://coinatmradar.com. Buy a transparent crypto (ideally LTC or DASH since fees to send are low) at the ATM using a burner phone for 2 Factor Authentication. You’ll also need a burner email. Store your LTC or DASH in your wallet, and use a Decentralized Exchange (DEX) (i.e. http://changenow.io) to swap it for XMR.

Option 3- Local Monero, Non KYC– You can find people to buy XMR from on LocalMonero.co where there are many different payment options including cash. There are crypto meetups and other ways to meet people to trade with, LocalMonero is just an easy option.

4.Transfer XMR to your wallet.

On Kraken (or whatever exchange you picked), go to your Funding page and next to the amounts of each currency that you hold, you will see withdrawl/deposit options. Choose withdrawl and enter the receiving wallet address that you set up earlier in Cake (or the XMR wallet of your choice).

If you bought from LocalMonero, you will also have to transfer your XMR off of there to your wallet.

Because of the nature of XMR as a privacy coin, all transactions after this step are no longer associated with your identity, even if you chose bank transfer. If you just want XMR to spend, you’re done. Transfer it from your wallet to anyone you please.

5.Transfer XMR to TradeOgre.com account.

(You can pick any exchange that sells ARRR, they are listed on https://arrrmada.com/exchanges/ My friend suggested Trade Ogre because they have the largest supply and therefore best prices on ARRR. We wanted to be able to give specific instructions for beginners to be able to get the best deal.)

Create an account on TradeOgre.com then go to your Balances page. Use the search bar to find XMR and click Deposit. A screen will pop up with an address to send the XMR from your XMR wallet that you created earlier.

6. Convert XMR to BTC.

On TradeOgre go to the Markets page and search for XMR. Click “BTC-XMR”. To the left of the red Sell button, you will see your XMR balance. Click it to auto fill the fields. When you click Sell, this will create your order. There is a chance that it will not go through immediately, because it may take multiple buyers to buy your XMR. You’ll know it’s done because your XMR balance will be 0 and your BTC balance will begin to rise until all of your orders have been filled.

7. Buy ARRR with BTC.

Now that you have BTC, go back to the Markets page and search ARRR and you’ll click BTC – ARRR. To the left of the green Buy button, you’ll see your BTC balance. Once again, click it to autofull and click Buy.

8. Transfer ARRR to wallet.

At the top right on TradeOgre click your profile button and then click Balances on the drop down menu. Next to ARRR click Withdrawl and fill in your details for your PirateWallet and transfer it there.
Note: I’ve gotten feedback that sometimes when sending ARRR to PirateWallet the transactions say they FAILED. If this happens, all you have to do is keep trying until it succeeds. Hopefully the glitch will be fixed soon.

You can now use your ARRR to buy things or hold it as an investment! Happy Plundering Mateys! If you would like to send a tip for this guide, my ARRR address is zs1rcku6zacsu5pkhsge2wrk56wt3hkrh37xavnh6jjz49v2gzucxzpu6w2cjv9r2yfl9f2vff9hfg
